Archive for the ‘memes’ Category

Isaiah tagged me a few days ago (sorry I’m behind on my reading) with a meme to list at least two posts from blogs I read that have resonated with me.

Here are the rules:

  1. List at least two posts (with links) that have resonated with you. Do not include your own posts!
  2. Give a brief explanation why you like the post.
  3. Tag four other people.

One post that I would like to mention is my friend Eric’s post on Total Depravity (because I can so relate).  It resonated with me today as I read it because it reminded me of the awesome grace that God has shown me.  The doctrine of total depravity helped me make sense of the doctrine of election when I was wrestling (and still do) with Reformed/Calvinist theology for the first time.

The apostle Paul helps to bring clarity to this subject.  If you wondered if you have anything to do with securing your salvation (for a believer) or if you can somehow earn it – read below.

And you were dead in the trespasses and sins in which you once walked, following the course of this world, following the prince of the power of the air, the spirit that is now at work in the sons of disobedience— among whom we all once lived in the passions of our flesh, carrying out the desires of the body and the mind, and were by nature children of wrath, like the rest of mankind.  But God, being rich in mercy, because of the great love with which he loved us, even when we were dead in our trespasses, made us alive together with Christ—by grace you have been saved— and raised us up with him and seated us with him in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus, so that in the coming ages he might show the immeasurable riches of his grace in kindness toward us in Christ Jesus.  For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God, not a result of works, so that no one may boast.  For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them, (Ephesians 2:1-10, ESV).

Praise God for bringing me out of the darkness into His wonderful light!

Then my friend Randy Holl (and also one of my volunteers Bible discussion group leaders at Woodward Academy) wrote an excellent post – “Political Ideologies are subject to salt and light”  A great reminder that God is not Republican or Democrat nor is He a conservative or liberal.  Both parties and even third parties need followers of Christ to be salt and light in the midst of them.

Ok, I’m tagging for this meme – Brent Thomas, Society, Nick, and Travis.
